John can give advice on any question of law or dispute resolution strategy.
He is experienced in advising on litigious matters such as:
- commencing causes of action (including which claims to run and the choice of jurisdiction);
- potential defences and cross-claims that are available;
- settlement strategy;
- case preparation;
- advising on "prospects of success"
- what evidence is needed in support of a claim or defence;
- the best strategy to litigate or to negotiate an outcome to a dispute; and
- legal costs.
He is also available to give advice on non-litigious matters such as, advising on the effect and operation of a statutory provision or the effect and operation of a clause in a contract or deed.
Much of his advisory work is written, but sometimes it can be given orally, for example, in in-person conference or via a telephone/video conference.
